Taking care of your hair can sometimes feel like a complicated task with so many products to choose from. While there are numerous treatments with silicones available, which is not bad, natural oils are often the best solution for nourishing and strengthening hair from the inside out.
After finishing my previous bottle of hair oil, I decided to try Difeel Castor Oil, a highly recommended option known for its ability to promote hair growth, reduce hair thinning, and keep your hair looking shiny and healthy.
After 6 months of using this oil (and still not finished the bottle), I’m ready to share my thoughts on its performance, formula, and overall effectiveness.

How to Use
- Scalp Massage. Apply a few drops of the oil to your fingertips and gently massage into your scalp. This can be done 2–3 times a week to stimulate circulation.
- Leave-In Treatment. Apply to the hair ends or throughout the hair for deep conditioning. Leave it on for at least 30 minutes before rinsing for softer, shinier strands.
These are the methods I tried myself. They suited my hair type the best since I have normal hair that tends to be more oily faster than dry hair types. But Difeel offers more options and examples of how to use their hair oils for dry hair and scalp owners:
- To Prevent Frizz and Flyaways. Apply a small amount of Difeel Castor Oil to clean, and dry hair. Focus on the ends and mid-lengths to tame frizz and flyaways while adding shine.
- To Detangle Curly or Coiled Hair. Apply the oil after shampooing to damp hair, starting at the ends and working your way up. Use a wide-tooth comb to gently detangle.
- For Extra Shine. Apply a small amount of oil to the lengths of your hair, concentrating on the ends. This will restore shine and eliminate dullness.
- To Prevent Split Ends. Massage a small amount of oil into split ends to smooth them temporarily while helping prevent further damage over time.
- As a Hair Spa Treatment. Warm the oil and massage it into your scalp for 15 minutes. Cover your hair with a cap or towel for 30 minutes, then rinse with a mild shampoo. This helps nourish hair deeply.
- Before Blow-Drying or Heat Styling. Apply a small amount of oil to damp hair to protect it from heat damage while reducing frizz and flyaways during blow-drying or flat ironing.
- For Overnight Treatment. Warm the oil and apply it to your hair and scalp. Leave it overnight for deep penetration, then rinse in the morning to prevent breakage and split ends.
- As a Pre-Shampoo Conditioner. Massage warm castor oil into your scalp and hair, leave for 30 minutes, then shampoo as usual. This will smooth and nourish hair before washing.
The Price
Difeel Castor Oil is a budget-friendly option for anyone looking for a reliable, natural hair treatment:
- United States: $7–$10 (2.5 oz / 74 ml)
- United Kingdom: £6–£8 (equivalent size)
- Europe: €8–€10
Prices may vary depending on the retailer and location. It’s widely available online, in drugstores, and at beauty supply shops.
It is important to mention, that this bottle lasts so long. I have had it for 6 months now, and I still have some left.
The Texture
The texture of Difeel Castor Oil is thick and rich, which ensures deep hydration and nourishment for your hair. While it may feel a bit heavier compared to lighter oils, it absorbs well when massaged into the scalp and hair. You need to be careful with this texture because it is very easy to make your hair greasy! (especially when it’s used on dry or freshly washed hair).
What I Loved About Difeel Castor Oil
In general, I loved using this oil as a prewash hair mask, massaging it to my scalp, and leaving it for a few hours or night.
It made my scalp less itchy and my hair shiny and smooth. I also noticed that my hair strands were less prone to break.
I cannot comment anything about hair growth promotion because my hair grows fast naturally but I believe that castor oil, which is the primary ingredient in this product, does its job.
